What is cypraea shell?

Cypraea shells are a type of seashell from a family of marine gastropods known as Cypraeidae. They are often called Cowries and are found throughout the world in shallow waters near coral reefs or rocky shores.

These shells have a glossy surface and are usually smooth, although some species have small bumps or ridges. They range in size from small ones, less than one inch long, to large specimens up to 6 inches long.

Cypraea shells have been popular throughout history for their beauty and have been used as currency, jewelry, and even as a form of divination in some cultures. They are also used by hermit crabs as a protective shell.

Today, many people collect these shells as a hobby, and some species are highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and unique patterns. However, in some parts of the world, over-harvesting of these shells for commercial purposes has led to population declines and even extinction in some areas.
